Come join us for an incredible documentary, hosted by the League of Women Voters, about the fight for free speech in Montana in the Early 1900’s, and the passing of the harsh sedition act in 1918, that wasn’t repealed until the 1970’s. This film follows the stories of those jailed during that time for speaking out against the government and opposing World War One. Followed by a Q&A discussion panel with one of the films Directors, Clem Work, a retired UM Journalism Professor, and Jim Taylor, the Legal Director of the ACLU of Montana. This film is free and open to the public, and is a must see for those interested in Montana History and Constitutionally Protected Free Speech. There will even be the opportunity to sign up to receive a free pocket book Constitution, delivered right to your door. Join the conversation and learn about the current state of our liberties in the state of Montana. We hope to see you there!
Screening Tuesday, April 4 at 5:15 PM – 8:30 PM MDT
in the University Center Theater, 3rd floor
Help us give Spring Break a new meaning! March 20-24, Students for Peace & Justice at the University of Montana will be taking students out to Cannonball, North Dakota to assist in the ongoing clean-up efforts at the former DAPL resistance camps. This trip will focus specifically on clean up of the camps previously known as Oceti Sakowin, Sacred Stone, and Rosebud, along the Cannonball River in conjunction with local and state authorities and clean up crews. World Water Day is March 22nd, so we will also be raising awareness, celebrating, and giving thanks at the Cheyenne River Camp, where we will be staying. But we can’t do it alone. We are currently fund raising and gathering supplies. Some of the things we need are:
- Trash Bags
- Work Gloves
- Rubber Boots
- Large Wagons
You can donate at our Go Fund Me page!
- Pickup Trucks
- Monetary Support
